Tour Story 4

Noise FM, PM Today, and Abandon Kansas, played at Rock Island Live in Wichita, KS, on August 1st, 2010. All the bands sounded amazing and it was truly a great line up. For it being a pretty small venue a good amount of people came to support and sweat along the side of a few of their hometown bands.

I feel horrible, but I can not for the life of me remember who the first band said they were, but they were from Wichita, and did a fairly good job to start the night off. Even though they said they don’t play together too often, they did a great job. They also had a very interesting song, where it was just an instrumental between the drums and bass which you don’t often see. If anyone knows who this band is just shoot me an email at (smashadams@live.com) and I will get their name as well as band info added.

*This band is called The Gallery, I couldn’t find any other information out about them, but if you know anything just let me know.

Noise FM, Lawrence, KS, was on stage next and had an awesome stage presence. As of right now they are unsigned, but if they keep doing what they are doing now, I can imagine that that status won’t last long. This is a band that I can see going pretty far. They are Indie, but I was half expecting that weird techno crap when I first seen they had a keyboard, but to my surprise they were far from my initial perception. I would highly recommend anyone to go see these guys or pick up their new album “Enclave” if they have a chance. You can check them out for yourself at their band page, myspace , add them on facebook , and while you’re at it follow them on twitter. It’s sort of short notice, but they will be playing at the Pitch Music Awards on August 5th, so if you are free you might as well stop being lame and go to their show. If you’re going or not though you can still vote for them in the “indie rock” category on the Pitch’s Weekly Poll.

PM Today from Jacksonville, Arkansas, opened up for Abandon Kansas, and had more of a rock sound than the other bands, which was a breath of fresh air.  They definitely brought it on stage. From the first to last song they rocked a classic sound while being entertaining to watch as well. Out of all the bands at the show that night, I think they had to have been the most fun to try and photograph, just because all the members were constantly moving, so it made for some interesting pictures as you will see when you scroll down (there are some pretty good facial expressions in the bunch haha). Right now these guys are signed with Rise Records and their new album out is “Medias Res”. You can get more information from these guys at their myspacetwitter, or  facebook. I know everyone has to have at least one, if not all of these sites, and I even made it easy for you and all you have to do is click the link to learn about all these amazing bands.

Now for the band that everyone basically came to see, Abandon Kansas! Having their hometown advantage, everyone loved them, and it was a way to end the night. However, this was not Jeremy Spring’s first time on the stage that night, he sang a few songs with Noise FM and PM Today. You could definitely tell all the bands really got along with each other. Abandon Kansas is currently in California filming a new music video, and will be releasing a new cd titled “Ad Astra Per Aspera”. This band is one that all Kansans should be proud of, not only because these guys are Kansas themed per say, but also because they truly care about people, and work with Compassion International, where they help kids in Ecuador. You can listen and read up more about these guys on myspace, twitter, facebook, or their own site.

If you havn’t figured it out yet, you can click on any of the images to see them in a larger size. I hope you enjoy looking at them, as much as I did taking them.

Everlasting Sound Tour

Posted: 26th July 2010 by awsomeashley in Uncategorized

On October 25, 2008 the Everlasting Sound Tour came to Manhattan Kansas and played at PJ’s Pub (www.myspace.com/pjspub) located in Aggieville. The bands on the tour were Sky Tells All from Pensacola, Florida (http://www.myspace.com/skytellsall) and Blameshift from Syosset, New York (http://www.myspace.com/blameshift). Then two local bands from Manhattan, Kansas,  Losers and Weapons (www.myspace.com/losersandweapons) and Kiss and Tell (www.myspace.com/kissandtellamerica) opened and closed for the tour.

The show was pretty good and the venue was awesome! I would strongly recommend checking out each of these bands and definitely going to a show if they play in your area. Also, if you live near Manhattan, Kansas, make sure you check out PJ’s pub, because they have some pretty good bands come through there as well. I even made it easy for you guys and posted the links to all the sites. Now I don’t want to hear any excuses…. believe me you won’t be disappointed!!
